October 2020 Newsletter

Despite the economic downturn and uncertainty this year has brought everyone, and not just businesses, Associate Events is proud to have been able to stay positive throughout the pandemic and even more so, we’re super excited for the future!

Where many agencies and businesses were forced to cut costs by closing up shop completely or letting go of staff, we’ve decided to swim in the other direction and expand. We’re delighted to announce we have three new members joining the team, which you’ll read more about in here, and they’ll each be adding new skills and more value to our already incredible #AETeam.

Not only this, but we have a new offering we are looking forward to launch in our nation’s capital in early October. This completely unique opportunity looks to help struggling venues piece themselves back together, with the help of our expertise. Our ‘Digital Events’ service has also been a popular choice recently - as is expected in the current climate - and many businesses recognise the value in virtual events and just how powerful they can be.

As always, we are here to support you in all the ways that we can, just get in touch with us by phone or email. We have more exciting news swimming in the background, but more on that in our next update!

Stay safe and we’ll quack this thing!

supporting charities

One thing has remained throughout this unpredictable year and that is our commitment to fully supporting local communities through active participation. At Associate Events, we don’t just say we are here for you, we show it by putting our money where our mouth is.

Over the course of ‘Lockdown’ we saw the local Leicester business community come together for a virtual Suits & Vinyl DJ set raising money for charities: Bodie Hodges Foundation, Hope Against Cancer and Soft Touch Arts, raising over £7K. Associate Events was proud to support the event and made a £500.00 donation which was distributed amongst the chosen charities - and we’ll be doing it all over again in November too. To get involved and support too, please click here for more information.

Taking this a step further, we donated a total of 5 laptops to The LionHeart Academies Trust, to help provide the highest quality and access to education for children who were unable to attend school throughout the pandemic. If you can, please do your bit, and support this great initiative too by getting in touch with info@lionhearttrust.org.uk here.

venues venture

As a result of Covid-19, venues across the UK have ground to a halt and in some cases have been forced to close altogether. With government advice only allowing smaller meetings or weddings for up to 30 and the looming review date looking further and further away, the next 12-18 months are survival mode and venues must stay visible, stay competitive and adapt their offering for the growing demand of hybrid events.

Associate Events has recognised the substantial negative effect Covid-19 is having on venues across the nation and has developed a new service offering which will massively reduce cost whilst enabling the venue's known quality of event delivery and most importantly staying competitive in this rapidly changing market.

This new model looks to disrupt the market and encourages struggling venues to think differently in order to survive; all whilst retaining the highest level of talent, management, delivery and expertise. If this sounds like something your venue could benefit from and you would like to find out more, please do get in touch with us and give us a call on 0116 464 5995 or email hello@associate-events.com and we can have a conversation!

new additions to ae

It’s an exciting time when we get to add to our flock!

Becci joins us as Director of Venues, where she will be developing and launching our new concept for London venues to help reduce overheads and stay visible post Covid-19.

Becci is originally from Torquay and currently lives in London. She has worked with a huge number of unique London venues from visitor attractions such as ZSL London Zoo through to large scale entertainment venues such as The O2 and Wembley Arena. Having graduated from Plymouth University with a degree in Events, this is truly her passion and she has been fortunate enough to work on some amazing events such at The London Marathon, The BRITs, National Television Awards and Comic Relief.

From our inception, Associate Events has always offered support for De Montfort University students to gain more industry experience. This began with Martha Orrey, who joined as our Social Media Coordinator intern, before she moved around the company sampling a variety of roles, and recently becoming our Events and Marketing Administrator. With her she brings a considerable amount of knowledge and experience, and has taken to her newest role like a duck to water!

We continue to provide work placements and this Autumn we welcome 2 new interns under the DMU ‘Frontrunner scheme’. Matei Vulpe joins us as our graphic designer, aiding in a range of new and past projects, with Elena Boyadjian supporting our communications and marketing team helping out with social media, pr and marketing.

digital events - what we're now setup for...

Associate Events has always tried to be a thought leader and keep ahead of the curve. With 2020 being no exception, we have continued to mould and adapt our service offer to accommodate growing demands from our clients to produce ever more complex digital events. When we say 'digital events' though we don't mean a direct digital stream of a presentation - instead, we've been busy coming up with creative, inventive and varied solutions to make our clients' events shine and stand out from the crowded digital event environment - that we now all seem to live our lives through.

In August, we took this a step further and launched our very own state of the art digital studio which is adaptable and the true essence of a digital hybrid studio - crossing over the digital world with the physical. Our studio is also mobile, and so we've been successfully rolling this out for our clients over the past months - and will continue to do so more regularly, as the demand and enquiries for this facility seem to be ever increasing.

Whatever your requirements are, we can help you bring your digital event to a new level. Reach out to us through the normal methods, and we can have some fun and get creative!
