Associate Events To Help Venues Survive and Thrive Post Covid-19
Today, ‘Vaccine Wednesday’ will go down in history as the day the United Kingdom approved a vaccine to a globe halting pandemic. It is clear that we are not out of the woods yet, and far from it, but we can certainly see ever more light coming through the trees. Though, the future for most businesses remains somewhat foggy and for all of our personal health, welfare and businesses we should celebrate, but not become even remotely complacent. As seen on a global scale, the events sector has been one of the hardest hit in 2020 with most venues predicting an income of only 10-20% of their original budget for the year.

It is truly a day to celebrate and be proud of all we’ve personally accomplished to now – with huge congratulations going to the amazing scientists and volunteers who have broken the bounds of science and technology to get us to today’s result.
However, everyone in and connected to the events industry will be cautious and wary of not being too optimistic too soon. The 'events tap' will not be turning on any time soon and it is becoming clearly apparent that the future success of events relies heavily on installing, growing and building confidence within event bookers, which will take time.
2021 is likely to be an exceptionally turbulent year. Going into a global lockdown (as has been said numerous times) was always to be ‘easier’ in complexity than coming out. In the main it is stability, market and consumer confidence, volume and solid fiscal policy that will catalyse a return to the ‘norm’ – but what that ‘norm’ looks like, only time will tell. It is being predicted that it could take up to 2-3 years until the number of events are anywhere near back to 2019 levels.
Venues over the coming weeks and months need to look at the way they think and operate in order to disrupt the market and future-proof themselves. No venue should go back to marketing, selling or operating themselves in the same way they did, venues need to take advantage of the situation and create a new normal which is where Associate Events can help.
We are working with Tier 1 unique venues, large scale music venues, members clubs and boutique hotels to change the way in which they operate whilst saving money, talent and experience.
It is our aim to do something good for the events industry so that the good survive, this is about transparently and openly working with the market to disrupt the way that venues operate to ensure our great industry has the foundation to move forward more effectively in years to come.
There is a new era and a huge opportunity ahead for us all. 2020 (which we will all be pleased to see the back of) will change the world as we formally knew it, but hopefully for the better. The pandemic has and continues to teach businesses and individuals what is truly important whilst having allowed time for us all to assess, innovate, review and learn what is truly important. Today’s amazingly positive news brings us the foundation to start to build upon – hopefully Boris has the right mix of concrete to make it set in the right place and within the right timeframe to bring the events sector back to its former glory.
